In Preston, we conducted ‘oral history’ interviews with long term older residents (50+ years old) from the White British, Black Caribbean British, Asian British across three wards: Fishwick, Brookfield and Fulwood. The study is based on 24 months of fieldwork including meetings with local stakeholders and the Council Community Team, attending local online events, and meetings with community and religious leaders. It concluded in the spring 2022. Although contiguous, these three wards nonetheless vary considerably in their local histories, local economies and socio-demographic profiles.

Findings reflect upon the impact of post-industrial decline and transformation and the contrasting experiences of Preston's majority and minority populations.
